My exhibit will be about the perspective of supporting esports in the Olympics. I want to convince the audience that esports are a type of sports in the way that they do not necessarily have to be intense physical activities, but rather the characteristics of passion, spirit, and teamwork that they have.
For instance, pictures of a live stream of esport and soccer can present the similarities of people staying up late and watching games that they are extremely passionate about. Another example would be responding to the recent news that esports will be included in the official sporting program of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Facts and figures of the growth of esports can be presented to persuade readers of the archive. This includes funds generated from the matches and viewers and competitors participated in the games. Comparison of esport and American football that is not in the Olympic could also be pointed out: “What characteristics in esports surpass the criteria for being in the Olympic while the popular American football game does not have?”
I wish to present as much information about esports as possible to clarify the misconception that people commonly have towards gaming geeks. As a result, I hope audiences could understand how esports lie in the spectrum of Olympic games as well. Although this exhibit is rather informative, the purpose of it is quite subjective and personal. Hence, the tone could be less academic and less formal, while discussing serious topics. As for the design, it would be mostly comparison oriented, which includes a balance of texts and images of esports and Olympic games.
